Hagen Smith opened with two and two-thirds of no-hit ball — three walks, four strikeouts — and the Chicago bullpen carried the shutout from there. Munetaka Murakami ambushed a first-pitch sinker in the fourth and sent it 440 feet, a no-doubter at 112.2 mph off the bat that put Chicago ahead to stay. Colson Montgomery doubled in the seventh to add a run, and Grant Taylor covered the last four innings on 42 pitches, striking out six without a walk. The Guardians had three hits and did not score.
