Jesús Luzardo struck out seven and still gave up six earned, because the damage came in clusters — Brandon Nimmo on an 0-0 sweeper in the 3rd, then Andrew McCutchen on a 97.9 mph fastball at 2-2 an inning later. That was three runs on one swing for McCutchen, his first homer of the season. The Phillies managed three hits all night and left seven on base, and MacKenzie Gore matched Luzardo's seven strikeouts across 5.1 innings. Three hits across nine innings is a line that doesn't come back, no matter what the bullpen does.
