Twenty-one hitters in six innings — three hits, no walks, nine strikeouts — was all Chase Burns allowed, and he left with a lead the bullpen never threatened to lose. Trea Turner's solo homer in the third was all Philadelphia managed, while the Reds took the lead in the fourth on sacrifice flies from Dane Myers and JJ Bleday, both on fastballs above 97 mph. Two more runs came in the seventh on a fielder's choice and a walk. Jesús Luzardo took the loss with two earned in six innings, and Tony Santillan struck out two in a clean ninth.
