Four lead changes and the last one belonged to Derek Hill, whose two-run homer in the ninth turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead that Jhoan Duran closed with three strikeouts. Richard Lovelady threw six pitches and the first one left the park for Hill's fifth home run of the year. Aaron Nola had left after five with the game tied, having thrown eighty-six pitches. Curtis Mead's two-run shot in the sixth had given the Nationals their last lead, and it lasted exactly three innings.
