Miami scored five runs before the Athletics came to bat. Heriberto Hernández hit a three-run homer on a 96.0 mph four-seamer and Jakob Marsee followed with a solo shot, and the inning did not end until Xavier Edwards had walked in a run as well. Jack Perkins struck out eight and allowed seven earned in 3.2 innings — 91 pitches, 57 strikes. Kyle Stowers homered in the sixth and again in the eighth, his ninth and tenth. Nick Kurtz hit a two-run shot at 112.9 mph, 457 feet, the hardest and farthest ball of the night. It came in the third, when the deficit was already five. Tyler Phillips started for Miami and could not finish the fourth, and the Athletics still lost by seven.
