CJ Van Eyk faced five hitters and got none of them out. Romy Gonzalez doubled to left to tie it, and Anthony Seigler — who had already homered in the first on an 87.5 mph slider — doubled behind him to put Boston ahead for good. Kazuma Okamoto's three-run homer in the seventh, on a first-pitch sinker at 96.3, had swung the night entirely. But Greg Weissert handed it back in the eighth, and Van Eyk could not stop the bleed. Patrick Sandoval threw 4.2 scoreless innings and left with nothing. Toronto left ten on base and lost by two.
