Robbie Ray threw 86 pitches across six innings and gave up one run, and the Padres never caught up from the moment Daniel Susac put a 0-0 fastball into the left-field seats in the second. San Francisco left eleven men on base and still won by three, which is what happens when the other side collects six hits and strings none of them together. Susac drove in three — the home run and a sacrifice fly to center in the fifth — and Randy Vásquez gave San Diego four and two-thirds of scoreless relief, and the deficit was never smaller than two after the second inning.
