Four runs scored before the White Sox recorded a second out, and Caleb Durbin's grand slam was the one that emptied the inning. Davis Martin gave up nine earned runs in five innings, and the pitch Durbin turned on was a 1-0 sinker that landed in the seats before Chicago had settled in. Jarren Duran followed with a solo shot — back-to-back homers in the first — and the White Sox were already playing a game they could not reach. Patrick Sandoval walked four in five innings and gave up two runs, and Brayan Bello threw three innings of two-hit relief to finish it. The Red Sox left two men on base all night, which tells you how many innings they spent with runners in motion.
