Sonny Gray struck out eight and walked two over six innings — 83 pitches, 53 for strikes — and the White Sox did not score for him or anyone after him. Chicago put seven runners on base and never crossed home. Wilyer Abreu hit his 20th home run in the 3rd at 109.3 mph off the bat, 390 feet, and Willson Contreras drove in the first run on a line-drive single in the 1st. Sean Burke took the loss: 4.1 innings, five hits, two earned. The Red Sox committed one error and it did not matter. Jovani Morán struck out three in the 9th to end it, and the White Sox left seven on base with nothing to show for them.
