Brandon Lowe hit a three-run homer in the fifth — his 26th — and turned a 4-2 game into 7-2. Boston had just scored twice in the top of the inning to close within two, and Lowe's blast answered before the Red Sox could settle in. Rafael Flores Jr. had homered in the second and singled in a run in the fourth, and Esmerlyn Valdez doubled in two more. Jake Bennett gave Boston four innings on 82 pitches and took the loss: five hits, four earned. Bubba Chandler got the win with five innings of two-run ball and five strikeouts. The Red Sox left eight on and scored once in the ninth before Mason Montgomery came in for the final out.
