Roupp walked four and allowed two hits across six innings, and the Cardinals could not score off any of it — ten men left on, the most damaging number on this card. Quinn Mathews gave San Francisco six innings of two-run ball and took the loss because his offense managed one run before the ninth. Bryce Eldridge's 16th home run, a 91.2 mph fastball he drove out in the first, was the run that held up. Joel Kuhnel came in for the save, gave up Torres's RBI single in the ninth, and finished it on 21 pitches.
