Bregman's first homer, a two-run shot on a 92.6 mph sinker at 0-0, put Chicago up in the first. His second, a solo blast on an 84.3 mph sweeper at 0-1, came in the third and made it 3-2. Boston tied it in the second on a forceout and did not score again for six innings. Braxton Garrett gave the Cubs five innings of one-run ball, and Colin Rea covered the last two without allowing a hit. Bregman added an RBI double in the ninth, his 33rd.
