Rice drove in six — a solo shot in the fifth on a 96.8 mph sinker, an RBI single in the seventh, and a grand slam to center in the eighth that made it a laugher. Schlittler threw 117 pitches in six and a third and held Boston to two hits, and the Red Sox never made him answer for the count. Boston's bullpen allowed eight runs in three and a third innings, and the hardest ball Rice hit all night — a 110.3 mph double — didn't score a soul.
