Aaron Nola threw 38 pitches and got five outs. That is the whole shape of Philadelphia's night — a Game 3 starter chased before the second inning ended, and the man who had to follow him was Zack Wheeler, an ace burning 68 pitches in relief down three. Michael Harris II homered for three on a 2-0 sinker in the first, and by the time Wheeler handed off after six, the Phillies trailed by four. They scratched single runs in the sixth and eighth and never got closer. Three Atlanta hitters — Harris, Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson — each went yard for the first time this October, and Chris Sale came out of the bullpen to strike out three. Nola waited all year for this start. It lasted 1.2 innings.
