Robbie Ray needed 45 pitches to record eight outs, and the two runs he handed over in the second were all San Diego would manage. Jackson Chourio erased that lead in the third, lining a slider 420 feet at 113.3 mph off the bat — the hardest contact of the night — and William Contreras put Milwaukee ahead in the seventh with a solo shot to center on a 3-2 sinker. The Padres left twelve on base and did not score after the second inning. Trevor Megill got the last five outs on seventeen pitches.
