Four lead changes, and the one that lasted was Boston's four-run 7th. Garrett Cleavinger came on in the 7th and gave up the go-ahead run — one hit, one walk, one earned in a third of an inning, and the Red Sox had the lead for good. Ceddanne Rafaela's double scored Jarren Duran, and Patrick Sandoval gave up nine hits and five runs across five innings and still was in position to win because the Rays' bullpen could not hold. Junior Caminero hit a groundout at 114.4 mph off the bat — the hardest contact of the night — and it went for an out, and it went for nothing.
