Merrill Kelly struck out 6 over 5.2 innings, gave up one unearned run, and left with a 2-1 lead — the kind of start that is supposed to hold. Arizona left 9 on base and never scored again. Bryan Reynolds tied it in the 8th, lining a 98.4 mph sinker to center for a double, and in the 10th Brandon Lowe — who had already singled in a run on a 3-2 changeup in the 6th — grounded a 2-2 cutter for a single to score Billy Cook and finish it. Kelly threw 93 pitches for a lead that lasted until Reynolds found the gap.
