Andrew Alvarez left after 6.1 innings of three-hit ball with a 3-0 lead, and Washington did not score again. Derek Hill put a 75.9 mph sweeper into the left-center seats with the bases loaded in the seventh — four runs on one swing that flipped the score. Abimelec Ortiz's first home run of the season, a 106.8 mph fly to right in the first, had given Washington their lead. Bryce Harper's 112.6 mph home run traveled 433 feet to center in the eighth, extending a margin the Nationals could not touch. Washington finished with six hits, three runs, and nothing after the second inning.
