Jesús Luzardo and Ranger Suarez combined for eleven and a third innings without a run, and the game was still scoreless when Tyler Samaniego entered in the eighth. Kyle Schwarber hit an 87.6 mph cutter 417 feet to right with Trea Turner on base, and Bryson Stott followed with a single that scored Alec Bohm after the Phillies overturned the call at first. Wilyer Abreu's groundball single got one back for Boston in the bottom half, but Jhoan Duran struck out the side in the ninth to end it. Schwarber's home run was his eighteenth of the season.
